Frequently Asked Questions
Most frequent questions and answers
No, we do not buy them. Loose or set in a piece of jewellery.
Unfortunately we do not know even one place in Singapore that buys Lab grown diamonds from the public.
The best path, which you have already started on, is to research online for a reputable diamond trader or buyer in Singapore.
Many go straight to the geographically convenient solution of a pawn shop, But that will probably not give you the best selling price for your diamond. So your options are pawn shops and diamond traders. See below question.
The best way is to try and find at least 2 diamond buyers in Singapore that have a solid reputation and get a quote from them. These traders know the market, know how to evaluate your diamond and can often pay more because of tha. If you have a certification by a high grade gemological laboratory as GIA, you might be able to get an initial quote over whatsapp.
You can but it is better for you to sell it with it. Mainly certified diamonds from reputable laboratories that are internationally accepted. If you don’t have a diamond certification and have a big diamond, you can send it to GIA or other laboratories to get certified and get a quote after its graded.
You must sell your diamonds for cash but we advise you not to go for hard cash but a cash transfer via bank or pay now. This will give you better documentation of the deal. In addition in Singapore cash transactions are limited so some diamonds will not be suitable for hard cash.
In general we prefer not to work with cash but if you are insisting on it please let us know in advance.so we can ready us. This is only for sums within the allowed by the authorities.
We know from our customers that there are pawn shops that buy diamonds. The following is information we got from them. You can always check for yourself…
Pawn shops typically deal with a variety of items like watches, bags, and gold, which means their expertise in diamonds may be limited. As a result, they often offer lower prices for diamonds. For diamonds smaller than 1 carat, you might expect to receive about 10-20% of their trade market value. Note that very small diamonds (less than 0.20 carats) may not be purchased or might be acquired without additional payment, with the value primarily based on the gold content of the piece.
For larger diamonds lacking certification, the valuation will depend on the pawn shop’s estimate, often erring on the lower side (around 20-30% of the diamond’s trade market value). Diamonds that come with certificates can secure slightly better prices (approximately 30-40%), depending on the type of certificate and the diamond’s characteristics.
Our advice is to get a quote from a more specialised business.
